The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Serbia, H.E. Ilhan Saygili, met with Dušan Borovčanin, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, to confirm Turkey’s participation in the Specialized Expo in Belgrade. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities for showcasing Turkey’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and innovations at EXPO 2027 Belgrade, further enriching the upcoming exhibition.
Turkey has a long history of participation in International Exhibitions, highlighting its culture, art, and technological advancements. At the World Expo 2000 in Hanover, Turkey presented a pavilion titled "Turkey: Bridge of Cultures," emphasizing its role as a bridge between East and West. At Expo 2015 Milan, the focus was on culinary traditions and agriculture, in line with the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life." Turkey also hosted an international horticultural exhibition in Antalya in 2016.
“We see EXPO 2027 Belgrade as an opportunity to showcase our rich cultural heritage and innovations through the lens of sports, music, and creativity. We look forward to contributing to the success of this significant event while deepening cooperation between our two countries,” said the ambassador, who described the current level of bilateral relations as a “golden era” of cooperation between Serbia and Turkey.
The upcoming Specialized Expo in Belgrade, themed "Play for Humanity – Sports and Music for All," offers participating countries a unique opportunity to display their cultural and creative potential through the prism of play, sports, and music. Over 120 countries are expected to participate, showcasing their interpretations of the theme through interactive pavilions, thematic weeks, and celebrations of national days during the exhibition’s 93-day run.
Given Turkey’s rich musical and sports traditions, visitors to EXPO 2027 can expect dynamic presentations of Turkish music, traditional games, sports, and contemporary achievements in these fields. This will be an opportunity to experience Turkish culture through interactive content, performances, and workshops that promote unity and creativity, aligning with the central theme of the exhibition.
“We are very excited that Turkey has confirmed its participation. Their cultural and creative contributions will significantly enrich the exhibition and further elevate its quality. I am confident that EXPO 2027 will become one of the key events in the region and beyond, and the interest from participating countries only reaffirms this,” added Dušan Borovčanin, Director of EXPO 2027.
EXPO 2027 Belgrade will take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027, and is expected to attract over 4 million visitors during its run.
