Belgrade Impressed the World with the Organization of the First IPM for Expo 2027
Preparations for Expo 2027 leave delegates from around the globe in awe: “We feel at home”

This week, Belgrade hosted the International Planning Meeting (IPM) for the Specialized Expo 2027, one of the most important milestones in the preparation process for this major international event.

The meeting brought together over 400 delegates from as many as 154 countries, once again proving that Serbia is not only capable of meeting the highest standards of organizing international events of this scale, but also of winning over the world with its openness and warmth.

Impressions from delegations from all corners of the globe spoke to the spirit of unity and cordiality that permeated the entire event—values deeply embedded in Serbian identity. “The organizers truly did an excellent job – everything was punctual, precise, and on time. Efficiency, hospitality, warm welcome – all at the highest level. You can really feel that famous Serbian warmth and love here,” said representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, summing up the overall sentiment of the participants.

The Swiss delegation especially highlighted the professionalism and clarity of the organizational procedures, further strengthening trust in Serbia’s ability to be a responsible host of a world-class event. “We feel we’re in safe hands because everything is well organized and running smoothly—from early registration and confirmation of participation to the pavilion application process,” said Manuel Salchli, Commissioner General of Switzerland for Expo 2025.

Beyond that, the IPM served as a bridge for strengthening international ties and an opportunity to present Serbia as a country of innovation, sustainability, equality, and open hearts. “This is the first time Ecuador has come to Serbia, and we are truly excited. It is clear that Serbia is sincerely committed to organizing the Expo and opening up to the world,” said Carolina Maldonado, Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment of Ecuador, adding that she was impressed by Belgrade’s energy.

One of the most powerful moments was a statement by Julie Endee, Liberia’s Cultural Ambassador, who shared a heartfelt message: “In Belgrade, I already feel at home. People are incredibly hospitable, and what touches me the most is gender equality – men and women are stronger together.”

The successful organization of the IPM reaffirmed that Serbia is on the right path to hosting an unforgettable Expo – in the spirit of play, cooperation, and innovation. Belgrade has shown it is not only a host city but a city of ambition, knowledge, and the future.

Expo 2027 will not just be a global event offering Serbian citizens and guests from around the world a chance to explore the world in 93 days – it will be a unique opportunity for Serbia to shape a new national identity as a modern, welcoming, and inclusive country.
