Mrs Jagoda Lazarević, Minister of Internal and External Trade of the Republic of Serbia and Commissioner General for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Mr Danilo Jerinić, Chief Executive Officer of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, and Ms Nina Alida Abouna, Commissioner of the Gabonese Section for Expo 2027 Belgrade, today signed the Participation Agreement for Gabon’s participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade at the Expo Playground venue.
The signing of this Agreement marks a further step in the development of relations between Serbia and Gabon and opens new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries through culture, business, and international exchange within the Expo 2027 Belgrade framework.
Speaking about the significance of Gabon’s participation in the Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, Mrs Lazarević emphasised that Serbia and Gabon have enjoyed long-standing and traditionally friendly relations and noted that the participation of African countries holds particular importance for the forthcoming exhibition.
“Serbia owes a great deal to our African friends for their support in securing the right to host Expo, and the fact that almost the entire African continent will be represented in Belgrade confirms that next year we will truly become a world in miniature. We are delighted to welcome Gabon, a country with extensive experience of participating in World Expos, and I am confident that its presentation in Belgrade will further enrich the international character of the exhibition,” said Mrs Lazarević.
Ms Nina Alida Abouna, Commissioner of the Gabonese Section for Expo 2027 Belgrade, stated that the Specialised Expo in Belgrade represents a strategic opportunity for Gabon to strengthen international cooperation, attract investment and showcase the country’s potential to a global audience.
“For Gabon, Expo 2027 Belgrade is an event of major strategic importance. We intend to use this global platform to attract foreign direct investment, support our national development agenda and strengthen cooperation in the fields of new technologies and knowledge, particularly for the benefit of young people. At the same time, we wish to present our cultural, sporting and musical heritage as a means of bringing people together and creating new economic opportunities,” Mrs Abouna said.
Mr Danilo Jerinić, Chief Executive Officer of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, also highlighted the significance of Gabon’s participation, recalling the long-standing friendship between Serbia and Gabon and the African nation’s extensive experience at international exhibitions.
“The Gabonese Republic has a rich history of participation in international exhibitions dating back to Montreal, and we are confident that it will present itself in Belgrade in an authentic and inspiring way. Expo 2027 Belgrade provides an opportunity for the entire world to gain a deeper understanding of your country, culture, traditions and potential, while also further strengthening the ties that our two nations have cultivated for decades,” Mr Jerinić stated.
The Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade will take place from 15 May to 15 August 2027. Over the course of 93 days, it will bring together countries, international organisations, companies and visitors from around the world through programmes dedicated to sport, music, innovation and cultural exchange.
