Participation Agreement Signed for the United States of America at Expo 2027
Today, at the Expo 2027 Playground in Belgrade, the Participation Agreement for the United States of America to take part in the Specialized Expo 2027 was signed, officially confirming the country’s participation in one of the largest international events of next year, which will take place from May 15 to August 15 in the capital of Serbia.
The Agreement was signed by Jagoda Lazarevic, Minister of Internal and External Trade of the Republic of Serbia and Commissioner General for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Sarah Rogers, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State and Commissioner of the Section for Expo 2027, as well as Danilo Jerinic, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade.
On this occasion, Minister Lazarevic stated that the United States will have a large pavilion at next year’s Expo and added that she believes the country will make a significant contribution to the event that Serbia sees as a major development opportunity.
“The United States will have a large pavilion in a wonderful location, and I believe that, judging by what they have demonstrated at previous world exhibitions, they will make an important contribution to what we in Serbia consider to be a major development opportunity for Belgrade, for Serbia, and for the entire region,” the Minister said.
Speaking about bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States, she emphasized that they are developing intensively, both economically and politically.
Lazarevic also recalled that major American companies are involved in infrastructure projects of strategic importance in Serbia.
Reflecting on her stay in Belgrade and the significance of the signed Agreement, Rogers pointed out that, as Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy, her role is to maintain strong relations not only with the Government of Serbia, which according to her already exists, but also with Serbia in the broadest sense.
“I cannot imagine a greater asset on our side in that effort than American companies that love investing here, love employing people from Serbia, and are excited to participate in this Expo,” Sarah Rogers emphasized.
She assessed that Expo represents an opportunity to engage and inspire a global audience and to promote the economic and commercial interests of the United States, which, as she noted, is in the mutual interest of both countries.
“We are excited about the partnerships already announced with American companies, including Cisco and Archer Aviation, and we look forward to announcing many, many more collaborations as the Expo approaches,” Rogers said.
Director of the company EXPO 2027, Danilo Jerinic, stated that today’s signing does not merely represent an agreement with one more country, but with a country that is a global leader in science, technology, innovation, and education, a country where some of the world’s largest companies that shaped the modern era were founded, and whose universities are among the most prestigious in the world.
“That is precisely why the participation of the United States is of exceptional importance for Expo 2027. America brings a spirit of innovation that has changed the world, from the first technological revolutions to today’s artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and space exploration. Expo 2027 will be a place where the world discusses the future, but also a place where people build new partnerships, friendships, and shared ideas,” Jerinic emphasized.
