Unprecedented Crowds and Kilometre-Long Queues: Expo 2025 Osaka Concludes Amid Unseen Rush
Massive crowds were recorded in the final days of Expo 2025 Osaka, especially on its closing day, 13 October. In the final weeks, the number of visitors grew daily, reaching historic records. Between 28 September and 4 October, daily attendance ranged between 237,000 and 245,000 visitors, while 1 October marked the peak with an astonishing 245,269 visitors in a single day. During the final weekend, on 12 and 13 October, the crowds became so large that access to pavilions was restricted, with hours-long waiting times.
The World Expo in Osaka was held from 13 April to 13 October 2025, spanning the total of 184 days, and attracted more than 28 million visitors. By the end of September, organisers announced that the exhibition had reached its full capacity and that all entry slots had been sold out.
Due to the overwhelming demand, ticket sales at the box offices ended on 26 September, while online sales closed on 30 September. In the final days of the Exhibition, thousands of visitors arrived from early morning, with queues stretching for hundreds of metres around the entrances and pavilions.
Following the spectacular finale in Japan, the world’s attention now turns to Serbia. The next major event will be the Specialised Exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade, themed “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”, which will take place from 15 May to 15 August 2027. Belgrade will then become a gathering point for more than 120 countries, a new meeting place of innovation, culture and unity.
