The game continues! Voting for the names of the Expo 2027 mascots extended into autumn Rastko and Milica, Sava and Nada, or Momčilo and Tamara - which pair of names will earn the title of mascots of the largest event in Serbia’s history?

Due to the overwhelming public interest and the constant flow of votes, the deadline for selecting the names of the Expo 2027 Belgrade mascots has been extended. This means that citizens of Serbia will continue to have the opportunity throughout the autumn to cast their vote for their favourite mascot names and, in doing so, to become part of the history of the first Specialised Expo to be held in the Western Balkans region.

Three pairs of names have reached the final round: Rastko and Milica, Sava and Nada, and Momčilo and Tamara. It will now be the citizens themselves who will decide, in a closely contested finale, which names will be carried by the mascots - the boy and girl in traditional Serbian attire who have already become a recognisable symbol of Expo 2027.

Sava and Nada, inspired by the river that flows through Belgrade and by hope for a brighter future, symbolise the spirit of the city and the key to progress. Rastko and Milica, deeply rooted in Serbian tradition and culture, represent growth, advancement and innovation, as well as warmth, kindness and harmony. Momčilo, an old Serbian name derived from the word momče (young boy), evokes playfulness and cheer, while Tamara, meaning the fruit of the palm tree, stands for strength and resilience.

The mascots are more than just symbols of the exhibition; their names may become part of the collective memory of people worldwide. It is worth recalling that Misha the Bear, mascot of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, is still remembered across the globe, as is Curro, the colourful bird from Expo 1992 in Seville, which became an iconic emblem of that exhibition. In the same way, the names of the Expo 2027 mascots will shape how millions of visitors remember Serbia - as a country whose symbols managed to leave a lasting impression on the global stage.

Voting for the names of the Expo 2027 mascots has so far attracted tens of thousands of participants, demonstrating the strong public interest in being directly involved in the preparations for the event that will place Serbia at the centre of international attention.
