As the World watches the World Cup, 50.000 Volunteers Work Behind the Scenes: Next Year, 20,000 Expo Playmakers Will Welcome the World to Belgrade

While millions of people around the world follow the FIFA World Cup, around 50,000 volunteers in Canada, Mexico and the United States are ensuring that the world's largest sporting event runs smoothly by welcoming visitors, providing information and supporting logistics and the media. Next year, 20,000 Expo Playmakers will have a similar role, serving as the first point of contact and the first image of Serbia for guests from around the world during Expo 2027.

Like the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup and world exhibitions, Expo relies on people who, although they are not in the spotlight, create the sense of welcome that visitors remember the longest.

The Expo Playmakers programme is one of the most important programmes of Expo 2027 Belgrade and will bring together 20,000 volunteers from Serbia and abroad. They will work in national pavilions, information centres, educational, sports and cultural programmes, media activities, logistics and event organisation. The programme promotes a culture of volunteering and is intended for everyone who wants to contribute their knowledge, time and energy to the organisation of one of the most important international events Serbia has ever hosted. Previous experience is not essential; motivation, responsibility and team spirit are what matter most.

During the exhibition's 93 days, Expo 2027 will bring together participants and visitors from around the world, giving Expo Playmakers an opportunity to work in a multicultural environment, develop intercultural skills and become part of a global cooperation network. Applications are open to all interested adults from Serbia and abroad, as well as those who will turn 18 by 15 April 2027, through the volunteer platform, the official website and Expo 2027 social media channels. Additional information is also available from the Expo 2027 Belgrade contact centre at 011 2027 555.
