The arrival of the world’s largest technology fair, GITEX Global, Dubai, to Belgrade represents a major development opportunity for Serbia and the wider region, and will bring significant investment inflows, strengthened technological capacities, and growth in start-ups and innovation - this was the conclusion of the meeting between the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, EXPO 2027 Belgrade, and GITEX Global.
Trixie LohMirmand, President of the Fair, also visited the EXPO Playground at the Belgrade Fair and was introduced in greater detail to the vision of EXPO 2027 Belgrade. She emphasised that she saw Belgrade as a technology hub in this part of Europe.
“GITEX AI Serbia”, the new fair that will be organised as a part of EXPO, will leave a lasting impact on foreign investment in Serbia, strengthening its economic capacities, and building up global partnerships and diplomacy”, LohMirmand stated.
According to her, GITEX and EXPO 2027 are only the beginning, and the region can expect record levels of foreign investment. EXPO 2027 in Belgrade will be an opportunity to showcase the region’s progress to the world and highlight the potential of emerging economies, the Director added.
“There is no better opportunity than to use artificial intelligence and technology as a tool to bring the world together here, provide small and medium-sized enterprises with an opportunity to grow, attract more investors, and enable start-ups to enter this part of Europe,” she said, mentioning once again that the global GITEX network brings together the investment, research and academic communities, as well as start-ups.
“Artificial intelligence requires collaboration - partnership is the new currency of the AI economy,” noted the President of GITEX Global.
Dušan Borovčanin, Advisor to the Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, stated that “GITEX AI Serbia” was an excellent example of what the International Exhibition EXPO 2027 Belgrade would bring to Serbia.
EXPO offers Serbia an opportunity to attract other events, such as GITEX Global, to come to our country, not only in 2027, but in the years that follow.
The world’s largest technology fair, GITEX Global, has chosen Belgrade as the host of its first fair in South-East Europe, under the name of “GITEX AI Serbia”. The first GITEX fair in Belgrade will be held in May 2027 and will bring together a large number of global innovators and companies.
