EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade and the Association for Industrial Design (ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale), as an unofficial participant, signed a Participation Contract for ADI’s participation in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade. The agreement was signed at the EXPO 2027 Playground by Danilo Jerinić, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, and Antonella Andriani, Vice President of the Association for Industrial Design and institutional representative for the Compasso d’Oro International Design Award, in the presence of Dimitri S. Kerkentzes, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions. The cooperation will enable Belgrade to host the fourth international edition of the Compasso d’Oro (“Golden Compass”) award in 2027, a distinction established in 1954. “We want visitors in Belgrade to see concrete examples of how knowledge and creativity can improve their lives. To understand how a solution was created, what problem it solves and where it can be applied,” Jerinić said.
Antonella Andriani invited designers, companies, universities and public institutions from participating countries to submit projects that recognise play as a universal resource, in line with the three subthemes of Expo 2027 Belgrade, while the finalists will be selected by an international expert jury. Dimitri S. Kerkentzes emphasized that ADI and the Compasso d’Oro award will, for the first time, have their own dedicated space within a Specialised Expo. The Best Practices section of the exhibition will feature award-winning projects and projects receiving honourable mentions related to the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”. The first international edition of the award was held in connection with Expo Milan 2015, ADI was also present at Expo Dubai, while the third international edition was linked to Expo Osaka 2025.
