The Business World Facing the Challenge and Opportunity of the Century: Expo 2027 Belgrade and the Slovenian Business Club Head Together Towards New Business Horizons

At the Expo, the world is not merely observed, it is encountered. This very spirit of exchange and the opening of new markets marked today’s business gathering between the representatives of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade and the Slovenian Business Club, held within the Expo 2027 Playground at the Belgrade Fair. The event brought together numerous representatives of Slovenian and Serbian companies, who had the opportunity to learn how the Specialised Exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade can become a driver of new business opportunities for the entire region, opening doors to global markets and partnerships that transcend borders.
This event is one in a series of meetings that Expo 2027 Belgrade is organising with Chambers of Commerce and business associations, with the aim of actively involving the business community in the preparations for the Exhibition and the strengthening of the Expo legacy that will emerge from it. Under the “Expo 2027 - Business Opportunities for Entrepreneurs” slogan, participants were introduced to various models of business engagement: from exhibition and sponsorship opportunities to Thematic Pavilions, joint projects, and investment initiatives.
Speaking about the significance of the Exhibition, Dušan Borovčanin, Adviser to the Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, stated: “Expo 2027 Belgrade represents a strategic platform for companies wishing to expand their global presence, establish high-value international partnerships, and access emerging markets with transformative potential. For companies from Serbia and the wider Western Balkans region, this is a unique opportunity to present themselves to a global audience, increase their export capacities, and position themselves as key players in the next wave of international economic growth and innovation.”
In his presentation, “Expo 2027 – A Local Platform for Global Growth”, Mr. Borovčanin showcased examples of successful models from previous World Expos, highlighting that, after Expo 2020 Dubai, as many as 75% of participating companies recorded business growth, while one in five secured new partnerships or export agreements.
As the host of the international exhibition in 2027, Belgrade has the potential to become a regional hub of innovation, trade, and sustainable development. Serbian and Slovenian companies alike can position themselves as key actors in the emerging economy of South-East Europe. In addition to direct economic benefits, Expo 2027 Belgrade will stimulate growth across tourism, hospitality, construction, and the digital sector, strengthening Serbia’s economic infrastructure and its position as a destination for future international events.
The meeting concluded with a tour of the Expo 2027 Playground, an innovative space in Hall 5 of the Belgrade Fair that already offers a glimpse into the spirit of the forthcoming Specialised Exhibition, followed by a networking cocktail, where business leaders exchanged ideas and explored opportunities for collaboration.
Expo 2027 Belgrade is not merely a national project; it is a platform for regional cooperation, investment, and the positioning of the Balkans as a unified economic player on the global stage. Through the involvement of business associations and Chambers of Commerce, this initiative lays the foundations for sustainable growth, new investments, and a globally recognised business ecosystem.
