Expo 2027 ltd and Cisco signed a Memorandum of Understanding expressing intention to explore a potential strategic partnership to build world-class digital infrastructure at Expo 2027 Belgrade
Expo 2027 ltd Belgrade and Cisco, the global leader in networking and security, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding expressing the mutual intention to discuss a strategic partnership agreement, marking the beginning of a collaboration focused on exploring the development of a secure, resilient, and future-ready digital infrastructure for the upcoming Expo 2027 Belgrade.
With expected 4 million visitors, over 130 participating countries, and a complex operational environment, Expo 2027 Belgrade represents a large-scale digital ecosystem that demands the highest standards of cybersecurity, reliability, and operational continuity. Through this proposed partnership, Cisco intends to explore how to support Expo 2027 in delivering a robust technological foundation focussed on cybersecurity aligned with the same standards applied at the world’s largest global events.
Deputy Prime minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali shared his thoughts on this collaboration saying it represents a strong sign of confidence in Serbia. “When a global technology leader recognizes our progress and expresses interest in actively supporting Expo 2027 Belgrade, it confirms that Serbia is a stable, reliable, and forward-looking partner. In addition, this cooperation could have the potential to go beyond Expo itself - it is an investment in long-term digital capabilities that will benefit our institutions, economy, and citizens long after Expo 2027 itself”, said Mali.
“We are honoured at the prospect of Cisco being a part of this amazing journey that is going to happen in 2027.” said Agostino Santoni, Senior Vice President for Cisco Southern Europe. “We saw a lot of energy and great progress. The possibility of becoming a partner of Expo 2027 from Cisco perspective would be an amazing opportunity to showcase our technology and platform in a secure manner.”
During his visit to Expo 2027 Playground he emphasized that Cisco would be proud to support Expo 2027 Belgrade by bringing Cisco expertise that ensure stable connectivity, real-time security, and resilience, enhancing experiences while remaining invisible in the background.
Danilo Jerinić, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, stated that the consideration of Cisco potentially joining the Expo project represents a strong confirmation of the importance and international credibility of the Specialized Exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade.
“Cisco is a global leader in cybersecurity and technological infrastructure, and this contemplated partnership confirms the stability, reliability, and credibility of our project.
Through our proposed cooperation with Cisco, participants, exhibitors, and visitors will have access to an event that meets the highest standards of security and technological reliability,” Jerinić emphasized, adding that the complete technological infrastructure developed for Expo 2027 could remain in use after the exhibition as a lasting legacy of the project.
According to him, the infrastructure that would possibly be made available to institutions and businesses across Serbia would serve as a strong platform for the further development of digital technologies and innovation in the years to come.
Beyond the event itself, the digital infrastructure planned for Expo 2027 is designed to deliver long-term value. The capabilities, systems, and knowledge intended to be created through this collaboration will continue to benefit Serbia’s public institutions, economy, and citizens well beyond the exhibition.
By exploring the opportunity of this potential partnership, Expo 2027 Belgrade aims to reinforce its position as a technologically stable, secure, and reliable global event — ready to welcome the world in 2027 and to leave a meaningful digital legacy for the years to come.
