Expo Caravan Arrives in Belgrade: Host City Prepares to Welcome the World

The Expo Caravan – Pavilion of Play presented part of the programme and atmosphere of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade to citizens at Sava Promenada. The exhibition will take place from 15 May to 15 August next year. Through music and sport, the programme introduced the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All,” as well as the opportunities the exhibition will bring to Belgrade, the domestic economy and Serbia as a whole. Igor Kovačević, Executive Director and Director of the International Participants Sector at EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, invited domestic companies and entrepreneurs to engage with international participants. “Expo is a powerful business platform that gives our entire business sector access to the global market,” Kovačević said. More than 14,000 people have so far applied for the Expo Playmakers volunteer programme, while Kovačević emphasized that the whole of Serbia is the host of the Expo and that more than four million visitors are expected. Municipalities from across Serbia will have an opportunity to present their business and tourism potential, culture and art through the “Serbian House” pavilion.

Belgrade City Manager Miroslav Čučković said road and rail connections are being prepared for Expo, including a train from Prokop to the Expo site and the airport, as well as the possibility of reaching the exhibition by river. New electric buses will transport visitors from several locations across the city during the exhibition and will remain part of Belgrade’s public transport system afterwards. Kovačević also said that the exhibition site will continue to be used after Expo, with a creative industries zone, a museum zone and a concert space. Belgrade, invited primary and secondary school students from across Serbia to take part in organised visits from 17 May to 25 June 2027, which will be free of charge, with organised transport and mandatory parental consent. The Expo Caravan “Path of Play” is supported by platinum sponsors Banka Poštanska štedionica and Telekom Srbija and will visit more than 30 cities during the year.
