Expo Caravan Arrives in Požarevac: A City of Great Heritage Welcomes Expo 2027
The Expo Caravan – Pavilion of Play arrived in Požarevac, where music, dance, art and sport brought part of the atmosphere of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade to Tabačka Čaršija, while also showcasing the city’s identity through Viminacium and its Roman heritage, the Ljubičevo Equestrian Games, Milena Pavlović Barili, folklore, music and sport. Vladan Ristić, Deputy Director of the Operations Sector at EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, emphasized that Expo is an opportunity to show the world what Serbia and Požarevac have to offer. “Expo is not only Belgrade, but the whole of Serbia and a platform through which local governments can present themselves to the world and showcase the very best they have to offer,” Ristić said. Through the “Discover Serbia” programme and the “Serbian House” pavilion, tourism potential, sport, culture, gastronomy and local stories will be presented, with the aim of encouraging some of the approximately four million expected visitors to also visit Požarevac during their stay in Serbia.
Mayor of Požarevac Saša Pavlović highlighted the Ljubičevo Stud Farm, the Ljubičevo Equestrian Games, Milivoje Živanović and Milena Pavlović Barili as part of the city’s heritage, while Mirjana Avramović, School Programme Manager at EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, invited students from Požarevac to take part in free organised school visits from 17 May to 25 June 2027, subject to mandatory parental consent. More than 14,000 candidates from 138 countries have so far applied for the volunteer programme, which is open to adults and those who will turn 18 by April next year. The programme in Požarevac also featured the Ljubičevo Equestrian Games and Ljubičevo All-Around Competition, as well as the “Bambi” Folklore School, the “Royal”, “Casa de Ritmo” and “Bolero” dance clubs, students of the “Stevan Mokranjac” Music School, local visual artists, Volleyball Club “Mladi radnik” and Water Polo Club “Požarevac”. The Expo Caravan is supported by platinum sponsors Banka Poštanska štedionica and Telekom Srbija and will visit more than 30 cities across Serbia during the year.
