The Expo Caravan continued its journey across Serbia with a visit to Ruma, where Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade was presented to citizens through the “Ruma on the Road of Play” programme, alongside the cultural and historical heritage, tradition, tourism, music and sports of this area. Jelena Parezanović, Director of the Marketing Sector at EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, emphasised that more than four million visitors are expected next year and that the Expo Caravan is an opportunity to bring the programme and opportunities offered by the exhibition closer to citizens throughout Serbia. “We are here in Ruma today with the caravan we call the ‘Pavilion of Play’, to show what citizens here can expect from Expo, both in terms of the programme and the opportunity to present Serbia to the world,” Parezanović said. She also noted that Expo will provide a platform for presenting different places in Serbia through the “Serbian House” pavilion, as well as for connecting businesspeople, scientists, young people and diplomats with the world.
Parezanović particularly pointed to the importance of the volunteer programme, noting that more than 8,500 volunteers have applied so far, while more than 20,000 are expected. The programme in Ruma brought together local institutions, associations, artists, young people and sports clubs, showcasing the city’s traditions, cultural and historical heritage, contemporary creativity and sporting achievements. Stevan Kovačević, Assistant to the President of the Municipality of Ruma for Culture and Education, emphasised that Ruma is a city with a long tradition of tolerance that nurtures its cultural heritage while also embracing modernity and new directions in cultural creativity. A special segment of the programme dedicated to innovation and modern technological solutions was delivered with the support of Telekom Srbija, a platinum sponsor of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, which will be held from 15 May to 15 August 2027.
