The Expo Caravan arrived in Sokobanja, where residents and tourists were introduced to the tourism potential, traditions and gastronomy of the area, as well as Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade and the opportunities it brings to local communities across Serbia. Jelena Parezanović, Director of the Marketing Sector at EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, said that more than four million visits and over 8,000 events in the fields of music, sport, education, business and innovation are expected during the Expo. “Today, as the host of the Expo Caravan, Sokobanja is demonstrating what kind of hosts Serbians are, while the great interest we are seeing here, as well as yesterday in Knjaževac, confirms that citizens want to be part of Expo 2027,” Parezanović said. She stated that local governments will be able to present their tourism and investment potential through the “Serbian House” pavilion, while the “Discover Serbia” programme aims to encourage international guests to continue their journey through other parts of the country after visiting the Expo. Around 9,500 candidates have applied for the volunteer programme so far.
President of the Municipality of Sokobanja Miodrag Nikolić said that Expo 2027 represents an opportunity for Sokobanja to present its tourism and gastronomic offer to an international audience, noting that it has more than 35 developed picnic areas, an aqua park, lakes, rivers and mountains, and that rural tourism is developing intensively alongside hotel tourism. More than one hundred homemakers and exhibitors presented specialities and homemade products from agricultural holdings, while more than 20,000 tourists are currently staying in Sokobanja. Visitors to the Expo Caravan were able to learn more about Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, which will be held from 15 May to 15 August 2027, as well as about digital solutions and technologies presented with the support of Telekom Srbija, a Platinum Sponsor of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade.
