The Expo Caravan continued its journey across Serbia with a visit to Sremska Mitrovica, where Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade was presented through the “Sremska Mitrovica on the Road of Play” programme, alongside the city’s cultural and historical heritage, nature, sports, tourism and the potential of its younger generations. The programme in Ćira Milekić Square featured stories about the Roman heritage of ancient Sirmium, the Zasavica Special Nature Reserve, local events, culture and sports. Jovan Velkovski, Director of the General Affairs Sector at EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, emphasised that the caravan aims to show that Expo 2027 is not only an event for Belgrade, but a project for all of Serbia. “We want to bring Expo closer to citizens, but also to present the wealth of the whole of Serbia to visitors who will come to Belgrade in 2027 and encourage them to discover other parts of our country,” Velkovski said.
Deputy Mayor of the City of Sremska Mitrovica Danica Nedić emphasised that Expo 2027 is an important opportunity for the city to present its cultural and historical heritage, nature, festivals, sport and successful people, as well as contribute to presenting Serbia to the world. As part of Expo, local communities will have the opportunity to present their history, tradition, cuisine, folk costumes and dances through the Serbian House. The Expo Caravan – Pavilion of Play will continue its journey across Serbia, while the segment dedicated to innovation and modern technological solutions was delivered with the support of Telekom Srbija, a platinum sponsor of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade. The exhibition will be held from 15 May to 15 August 2027, with the participation of more than 140 international participants and more than four million visitors expected over 93 days.
