First Edu Tuesday: Young Researchers at the Expo 2027 Playground Discover the Secret Behind Special Film Effects

How is fake blood made, or coloured flames, or the dense smoke we see in films? More than 50 third-and fourth-year pupils from the “Kreativno Pero” Primary School in Belgrade found out the answers at the very first Edu Tuesday at the Expo 2027 Playground, held in Hall 5 of the Belgrade Fair.

During the specially designed workshop “Film Tricks through Science”, pupils experimented with effects used in the film industry, connecting science and art in an engaging and entertaining way. All experiments were conducted under expert supervision and with safe materials, allowing the children to become both little researchers and filmmakers in a secure environment.

The first Edu Tuesday was dedicated to the magic of film and special effects, but the programme promises many surprises in the weeks ahead. One such highlight will be the spectacular science show “Science that Sparks, Crackles and Boils!”, where the laws of physics will come to life through fire on hands, icy smoke and controlled explosions. Each Edu Tuesday will focus on a different theme and is intended for children and parents alike, inviting them to discover together the spirit of the forthcoming Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade.

The Expo 2027 Playground is a space where science, art and play meet to create unforgettable experiences. Every new workshop and show builds a bridge to 2027, when Belgrade will host a global event that unites sport, music and human creativity. Through these activities, the organisers bring the spirit of the future Specialised Expo closer to citizens, sending a clear message that Serbia is already beginning to live the Expo. The programme will be regularly published on the official Expo 2027 Belgrade website and social media accounts, with free admission to all activities.
