First International Conference “Inclusive Serbia” Opened at the EXPO 2027 Playground: Serbia is Building an EXPO that is a Place for Everyone

“EXPO 2027 will be the first international exhibition in Serbia to be built from the ground up as an accessible and inclusive global event, a place where every visitor, regardless of their needs, will be able to participate, move, and experience the programme on an equal basis”, said Danilo Jerinić, Director of Expo 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, at the opening of the First International Conference “Inclusive Serbia: Challenges and Perspectives”, held today at the EXPO Playground (Hall 5 of the Belgrade Fair).
As the host of the venue, Jerinić emphasised that inclusion would be one of the clearest messages Serbia would send to the world in 2027. “While building the EXPO Venue, we always have in mind it needs to be accessible to all, not because procedures require it, but because it is our moral duty towards every visitor and towards our society,” Jerinić stated, adding that EXPO 2027 was not merely an infrastructural or development undertaking, but a national opportunity for Serbia to demonstrate that it is building a society that values diversity and equal opportunities.
“Inclusion does not play just a supporting role in the great exhibition - it is its foundation, and a value that Serbia seeks to share with millions of visitors from across the globe,” Jerinić concluded.
Conference participants - adults and children from inclusive classrooms and workshops - transformed the EXPO Playground into a classroom of the future, demonstrating what a community would look like if everyone had their place in it. Such examples most clearly represent the side of Serbia the world will see at EXPO 2027, where children and young people will have one of the strongest voices.
