How the Ambassadors of the World Coming to Belgrade Are Selected - and Why It Is One of the Most Rewarding and Demanding Jobs of Expo 2027 Belgrade

Selecting an ambassador for a major international event is not based solely on popularity, but also on international recognition, reputation, the values a person represents and their ability to reach different audiences around the world. Geographic reach, the structure of participating countries and the potential to strengthen tourism, business and cultural ties are also considered. Previous international exhibitions have featured figures from different fields, including Leo Messi, Gennady Golovkin, Lang Lang and Ai Fukuhara, while Bob Dylan recorded a song for Expo 2008 in Zaragoza. Although they differ in talent, background and field of work, ambassadors are connected by promoting the same values as the events they represent.

Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade is dedicated to play as a universal language of humanity through sport, music, technology, innovation, culture and the arts, which is why its ambassadors must be people who represent cooperation, curiosity, creativity, optimism and the ability to inspire others. Usain Bolt symbolises energy, movement and the universal language of sport, while Jackie Chan connects different cultures and generations through talent, humour, humanity and optimism. Future ambassadors of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade will be selected according to the same principles. The exhibition will take place from 15 May to 15 August 2027, with 139 confirmed international participants and more than four million expected visitors.
