Former world No. 1 tennis player Jelena Janković has become a brand ambassador of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade and the first major Serbian name to join the team of global ambassadors, which includes Usain Bolt, Jackie Chan and Lin Dan. In 2008, Janković became the world’s top-ranked tennis player, reached No. 1 on the WTA rankings, won 15 WTA titles, played in the US Open final, won the Wimbledon mixed doubles title and represented Serbia at the Olympic Games four times. “It is an exceptional honour for me to have been chosen as a brand ambassador of Expo 2027. Throughout my career, I have always tried to represent my country with great love, pride and responsibility. I am especially happy that this time I will not be travelling out into the world, but that the world will be coming to us, to Serbia,” Janković said.
Danilo Jerinić, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, emphasized that for years Jelena Janković represented Serbia through the language of sport, which connects people regardless of borders, culture or language, and that her selection reflects the values of the theme “Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All.” He noted that her achievements, fighting spirit, perseverance, authenticity and ability to inspire and connect people make her a natural choice as an ambassador of Expo 2027. Expo 2027 Belgrade will take place from 15 May to 15 August 2027, over 93 days, with more than 140 confirmed international participants and around four million domestic and international visitors expected.
