The “Join the Flow” concept, developed by facts and fiction, ZONE Media and PLANET architects, will represent Austria’s contribution to Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade, which will be held from 15 May to 15 August 2027. At the heart of the Austrian pavilion concept is the Danube, symbolising the connection between Austria and Serbia, people, ideas and businesses, as well as the values of networking, partnership and a future-oriented approach. The pavilion is conceived as a platform for international exchange and cooperation, while its Innovation Lab will enable Austrian companies, research organisations and institutions to present solutions in green technologies, digitalisation, energy, mobility and education. “Expo 2027 represents an economic and political opportunity for Austria and Europe. More than 800 Austrian companies are already operating in Serbia, while there is also additional export potential of more than EUR 400 million,” emphasised Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism.
Austria’s participation is being jointly organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, which is launching the Flow2Expo events and networking platform to help Austrian companies make use of the opportunities offered by the exhibition and build long-term business relationships in the Western Balkans region. Delegation meetings, expert gatherings, workshops, webinars and business platforms are planned, alongside cultural, educational and networking events. As one of the largest investors in Serbia and a country with more than 800 companies already operating in this market, Austria sees Expo 2027 as an opportunity to develop new partnerships and position itself internationally as an innovative business, technology and cultural location. “We see Expo 2027 in Belgrade as a flagship project in our immediate neighbourhood. Through the Flow2Expo programme, we are also using the international exhibition as a concrete business instrument for Austrian companies – before, during and after the event,” explained Philipp Gady, Austrian Government Commissioner for Expo 2027 Belgrade.
