At the World Expo in Osaka, held under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, the Republic of Serbia celebrated its National Day on 15 September, marking the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag. In the presence of distinguished guests from Japan and around the world, the event showcased Serbia as a modern, dynamic, and open country with strong economic, technological, and cultural potential.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who addressed the guests, including representatives of the Government of Japan, the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), members of the diplomatic corps, partners from the fields of business, culture, and sport, as well as numerous visitors from across the globe.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony and his tour of the Serbian Pavilion, President Vučić underlined that the Pavilion successfully illustrated the fusion of tradition and modernity, expressing his conviction that it provided a proper introduction to what will take place at the Expo 2027 Belgrade.
The cultural programme, open to all visitors, was performed by the ensemble Muškalica alongside renowned artists. Emotional interpretations of Serbian songs such as There, Far Away, Serbian Heroes, Grow, Grow, My Green Pine Tree, and Djelem, Djelem deeply resonated with the audience, further highlighting the richness of Serbian cultural heritage.
The celebration of Serbia’s National Day in Osaka represents an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between Serbia and Japan, as well as a contribution to the promotion of Expo 2027 Belgrade. The event further positioned Serbia as an attractive destination for investment, tourism, and international cooperation.
Serbia’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai is presented under the theme “Society of Play”, creatively blending rich natural heritage with innovation and reflecting the multilayered identity of the country.
