Serbia to Host World Environment Day 2027 as Part of Expo 2027 Belgrade

On World Environment Day in Baku, Serbia assumed the role of host for the 2027 observance of this global day, which will take place in Belgrade as part of the Specialised Exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade. This further confirms Expo’s role as an international platform for dialogue, innovation and the exchange of knowledge on sustainable development and environmental protection.

Sustainability will be one of the key principles of Expo 2027, reflected in solutions for more responsible use of resources, waste reduction, support for local producers and educational programmes for visitors. Particular focus will be placed on raising environmental awareness through workshops, interactive content, and waste collection and recycling systems that will form part of the exhibition’s day-to-day operations.

World Environment Day 2027 will be marked during the thematic week “Play for a Sustainable Future”, dedicated to climate challenges, the circular economy and sustainable solutions for the future. Hosting this global event will provide an opportunity for Belgrade to present itself as a place that, through Expo, promotes a responsible attitude towards nature and brings the international community together around issues that are important for quality of life and future generations.
