The reconstruction of the skate park at Ušće has been completed after more than 15 years of intensive use, bringing new sports elements, painted surfaces and landscaped greenery. The project was presented at the EXPO 2027 Playground in Hall 5 of the Belgrade Fair, while the works were carried out as part of the pre-Expo programme of Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade. The park covers 1,877 square metres, with around 150 square metres of landscaped green areas, and the works were carried out in accordance with the European EN 14974 standard. According to representatives of the contractor, it is the first skate park in Serbia with a safety certificate, while the new equipment is intended for both recreational and professional athletes and is suitable for street skateboarding competitions.
Uroš Ranković, Director of the Programme and Content Sector at EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, said that the renovation of the park is an example of the lasting legacy that Expo 2027 aims to leave to the city. “Legacy also includes the programmes we launch, the partnerships we build, the new habits we create and the spaces we give an opportunity to continue living,” Ranković said. Once the works are completed, the park will be handed over to JKP Zelenilo Beograd for further management and maintenance. Artist Marko Ćulum gave the renewed skate park its distinctive visual identity, while the reconstruction is part of a broader Pre-Expo programme connecting culture, sport, education, art, public space, youth programmes and different communities. Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade will take place from 15 May to 15 August 2027 under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”.
