The State of Israel Signs Expo 2027 Participation Agreement

The Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, Danilo Jerenić, and the Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade in the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Commissioner General for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Jagoda Lazarević, and the Commissioner of the State of Israel Section for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Yahel Vilan, have signed an Agreement on the Participation of the State of Israel in the Specialised International Exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade today.

By signing this Agreement, the mode of participation is formally defined and further operational steps are initiated regarding the Israel’s appearance as an official participant, in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and the practice established by the 1928 Paris Convention relating to International Exhibitions.

The Minister and Commissioner General for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Jagoda Lazarević, emphasised that it was a great pleasure and honour to host the distinguished guests from Israel, particularly bearing in mind that Mr Vilan is also a former Ambassador of Israel to Serbia.

“We have just signed the Agreement on Israel’s participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade, thereby confirming their commitment to the further development and enhancement of our bilateral relations, both at the political level and in the field of economic cooperation, which has been continuously and successfully developing,” Lazarević stated, expressing her satisfaction with the signing of the Agreement.

Lazarević also noted that she believed Israel would present in its pavilion everything it is widely recognised for, and that, through its participation, it would further enrich the content and objectives that Belgrade aimed to achieve through the specialised exhibition.

The Commissioner of the State of Israel for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Yahel Vilan, pointed out that he was in Serbia as Ambassador at the time when Serbia was bidding to host the Expo. “I was here at the time when Serbia was bidding to host the Expo, and it was a particular pleasure for me to ensure that Israel supported Serbia. We are very pleased that we supported your candidacy and, of course, we are very happy to be participating in this Expo. I am confident that this is an exceptional opportunity for Serbia,” Vilan stated.

Vilan congratulated the organisers on the project, emphasising that he was confident Serbia would do an excellent job, and that Israel would contribute for the particular Expo to be among the very best.

The Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, Danilo Jerenić, stated that the signing of the Agreement on participation with the State of Israel represented yet another step confirming that Expo was on the right path in terms of organising such a major event.

“Prior to the signing itself, we held a meeting during which we opened numerous positive topics for future discussions. Expo represents a gateway through which we are jointly opening a new path for friendship between Israel and Serbia, with the aim of elevating it to a higher level,” Jerenić emphasised, assessing that Israel’s participation in 2027 would be of a high-quality standard, and among the more successful appearances at international exhibitions, bearing in mind the team they prepared for Expo.
