The State of Libya Signs Expo 2027 Belgrade Participation Contract

Today, the Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, Danilo Jerinić, and the Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Serbia and Commissioner General for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Jagoda Lazarević, on one hand, and the Commissioner of Section of the State of Libya for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Issam Aloul, on the other hand, signed the Participation Contract confirming the State of Libya’s participation in the Specialised Exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade.

By signing this contract, the engagement of the State of Libya is formally confirmed, and further operational steps regarding Libya’s participation as an Official Participant will commence, in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and the practice established by the Paris Convention Relating to International Exhibitions of 1928.

The Minister and Commissioner General for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Jagoda Lazarević, emphasised that Serbia - formerly Yugoslavia - and Libya have maintained decades-long political and economic relations.

At the Exhibition itself, Libya will have its own Pavilion, and I am confident that it will present itself in the best possible light as a growing economy of North Africa and the Arab world, a country with significant potential,” stated Lazarević. She has added that Libya is not only a country rich in natural resources and energy, but also possesses numerous other capacities that it can offer to the modern world and today’s economy.

Expressing her satisfaction regarding the signing of the Participation Contract of the State of Libya, Lazarević has assessed that Expo 2027 Belgrade represents an important opportunity for further strengthening bilateral relations. She has added that during the Exhibition, Belgrade will become a true “world in miniature”, with a record number of confirmed participating countries, in which Libya will hold an important and visible place.

The Commissioner of Section of the State of Libya for Expo 2027 Belgrade, Issam Aloul, has stated that Libya’s participation in Expo 2027 forms part of the efforts of the Government of National Unity to strengthen Libya’s international presence and consolidate its active role in regional and international forums.

The General Authority of Libya for Exhibitions and Conferences, with the direct support of the Government of National Unity, is assuming its national responsibility to represent Libya in a manner befitting its standing, highlighting its economic and investment potential and opportunities, and contributing to the strengthening of economic diplomacy as a key aspect of national action,” the Commissioner of Section stated.

The Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, Danilo Jerinić, noted that Libya’s appearances at international exhibitions are characterised by the blending of rich historical and cultural heritage with contemporary cultural expression, through programmes that authentically present the country’s identity, highlighting its history, architecture and tradition.

At the meeting preceding today’s signing, we had the opportunity to see how thoroughly and with how many planned activities our colleagues from Libya had prepared for their participation in Belgrade, which assured us that Libya’s participation would indeed be highly attractive,” Jerinić stated.

Jerinić has concluded that through Expo, Libya has the opportunity to connect with companies and businesses from Serbia and other countries, thereby opening the door to new partnerships and the further enhancement of relations.
