Togo confirms its participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade

The Togolese Republic has officially confirmed its participation in the Specialised Expo, which will be held in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, from May 15 to August 15, 2027, with the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.”The first International Exhibition in the Western Balkans represents a global showcase for Togo to share the richness of its cultural, musical, and sporting heritage, while reaffirming its commitment to the dialogue of civilizations and cooperation among peoples.“We are delighted to welcome our dear friends from West Africa and are eagerly looking forward to seeing their interpretation of a theme that allows everyone to showcase the richness of their cultural identity. We thank the Republic of Togo for confirming its participation and invite other African nations to join us in this ‘play for humanity,’” said the CEO of Expo 2027 Belgrade, Dušan Borovčanin.A country of traditions and diversity, Togo aims to utilize this global exhibition to showcase the vibrancy of its cultural expressions, the beauty of its traditional dances, the emotional power of its rhythms and percussion, as well as the creative drive of its contemporary music scene. Through an authentic artistic program, the Togolese pavilion will invite visitors to immerse themselves in the cultural soul of the country.Togo will also present the great figures and landmark moments of its sporting history, notably the historic participation of the Éperviers in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the bronze medal won at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games by kayaker Benjamin Boukpeti (the nation’s first Olympic distinction).This participation is also part of the strengthening of the historic diplomatic relations between the Togolese Republic and the Republic of Serbia. Established in 1960, at the dawn of Togo’s independence, these relations have developed in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation, marked by regular bilateral exchanges.Togo will take part in this international event, which will bring together over 120 countries, international organisations, and companies from around the world, with an expected attendance of over four million visitors. The country will bring a voice of peace, diversity, and openness, true to its tradition of hospitality and its desire to actively contribute to the major debates of the contemporary world.
