China
China is a country with a fascinating cultural heritage, and its traditional dances, music, and sports reflect the rich history and diversity of its people. At EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, the Chinese pavilion will offer visitors the opportunity to experience the spirit of China through play, sound, and dynamic movement.

One of the most striking elements of Chinese culture is dance, which traces its roots back to the Zhou Dynasty. Particularly famous are the Dragon Dance and the Lion Dance, traditional performances that symbolize good fortune and prosperity. The Lion Dance combines martial arts, vibrant costumes, and the rhythmic sounds of drums and gongs, while the Dragon Dance is performed with synchronized movements by large teams controlling the long, winding body of the mythical creature.

China’s musical tradition dates back more than 9,000 years, as evidenced by the archaeological discovery of ancient flutes in Henan Province. Music has always played a crucial role in the culture of this nation, and the famous philosopher Confucius believed that the right form of music contributes to the cultivation of one’s spirit and character.

The tradition of string instruments is especially prominent, with some of the most well-known being the erhu (a two-stringed fiddle), guzheng (zither), pipa (lute), and guqin (an ancient instrument similar to a harp).

The Chinese people place great emphasis on physical fitness and sporting achievements. This dedication is reflected in the National Games of China, held every four years as the country’s own version of the Olympic Games.

China is a global powerhouse in table tennis and badminton, sports that require exceptional speed and precision. Table tennis is more than just a sport in China – it is a part of the national identity and a beloved recreational activity for over 300 million players. Thanks to the systematic development of young talent, China has dominated international competitions in these disciplines for decades.

Whether you are inspired by the rituals of dance, soothed by the mystical sounds of traditional instruments, or fascinated by sporting excellence, the Chinese pavilion at EXPO 2027 will offer a unique experience in Belgrade. Through the richness of play, music, and movement, China will once again showcase its magic on the world stage.
