“Expo 2027 Belgrade is not only an opportunity for China to showcase its economic strength and innovation, but also to further strengthen ties with Serbia and the Balkan region,” said Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), during a meeting with representatives of EXPO 2027 Belgrade. He emphasized the strong relationship between the two countries. The Chinese delegation stated they would invite their business community to visit Expo 2027 Belgrade and explore potential business opportunities.
Hongbin highlighted that China fully understands the importance of presenting a country at the world’s largest event in 2027, having hosted an Expo three times and participated in International Exhibitions since 1851.
“Each Expo offers a theme for countries to present themselves, but Serbia’s theme has sparked enormous interest worldwide because it creates an instinctive desire across generations to get involved,” said Hongbin.
Dušan Borovčanin, Director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, said that Serbia is known for its great athletes, artists, and scientists – all connected by one word: play. “That is precisely why we chose this powerful element, present in almost every field of work, as our theme – because play connects nations, inspires, and has the power to change things for the better,” he said. He added that through this theme, Serbia invites countries to showcase their creativity and innovation in a completely new way – by using play.
Borovčanin shared that around 10,000 events are expected at Expo 2027 Belgrade, with a significant focus on the business community. He said that daily business forums, major summits, and delegation meetings are planned. However, what matters most, as he emphasized, is that the world views Expo 2027 as “a platform where we will jointly create better opportunities for future generations.”
