The Republic of South Sudan, the world's youngest country, has officially confirmed its participation in the Expo 2027 Belgrade, which will be held from May 15 to August 15, 2027, with the theme "Play for Humanity: Sports and Music for All".
This African country, which gained independence in 2011, debuted at International Exhibitions at Expo 2020 Dubai and will also have its pavilion at the upcoming Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai. Participation in the Belgrade exhibition marks a continuation of strengthening its international presence after it became a Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) member in 2013.
"We are thrilled and proud to have the opportunity to host friends from East Africa, who amazed us all with their basketball skills at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. Knowing that, like Serbia, they have a great love for 'the game under the hoops', we are sure that South Sudan will present an extremely interesting program. We look forward to the chance to learn more about other aspects of their rich culture," said Dušan Borovčanin, CEO of Expo 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade.
Expo 2027 Belgrade will be the first International Exhibition in the Western Balkans, and the Serbian capital is expected to host more than 120 countries and attract more than four million visitors during the 93-day event.
