The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, received the official flag of the International Exhibitions Bureau and Expo, a symbol of the specialised exhibition Expo 2027 to be held in Belgrade, at a ceremony in the Sava Centre on behalf of the President of the Republic of Serbia. Attended by high officials, diplomats, media and Expo 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade representatives, this significant moment marked another big step in the preparations for a global event that will make Belgrade and Serbia a centre of innovation, culture, sports and music.
“The Expo flag is not only a symbol of victory, but also a great honour and responsibility. Expo brings great opportunities for development and gives us an opportunity to show all our potentials. Serbia recognised its chance to show its spirit, openness, innovation and got the chance to create something bigger than ourselves. We will show that we can be excellent hosts and that Belgrade is the place where the world will show its readiness for a common future. I would like to thank President Aleksandar Vučić and the First Lady, Tamara Vučić, for all their support, effort and commitment to achieve this success”, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, said.
Expo 2027 in Belgrade will capture the attention of the global community, inspire new generations and open doors for international cooperation. The arrival of the Expo flag in Belgrade is another step on an exciting journey towards an event that will showcase the latest achievements in various fields and explore the power of play and its potential to connect and transform society.
“Expo is not only Belgrade, Expo is the whole Serbia. When we decided to bring Expo to Belgrade, we were not favourites. However, little by little the power of our vision managed to convince the most important world countries, more than 80 of them, to vote for us. Expo is not only the biggest world event in 2027, but also the biggest event that our country has ever organised. Expo is our leap into the future, and it is only the beginning, because as of 2027 a new investment cycle awaits us. Everything we do and will do remains for the citizens of Serbia”, the First Vice-President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Minister of Finance, Siniša Mali, said.
The first International Exhibition to be held in the Western Balkan region will put Belgrade on the map of world innovation and make it a meeting place of cultures and ideas.
“It is the Bureau International des Expositions’ great pleasure and deep trust to hand over the Expo flag to Serbia as the organiser of Expo 2027 Belgrade. Expo 2027 will be a platform for the whole of Southeast Europe to present the region’s cultural wealth, creativity and resilience on the global stage. For Serbia, it is a chance to reaffirm its leading role as a centre for innovation and training ground for excellence. For Belgrade, it is a moment of renewal and an opportunity to show its dynamism and openness as it will welcome participants and visitors from all over the world”, the Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions, Dimitri Kerkentzes, said.
The theme of Expo 2027, Play for Humanity, was one of the crucial elements that brought us the opportunity to host this globally important event. Under the symbol of this flag, which connects us to the world, we will show how play develops, inspires, and unites, and how Play lives within each of us.
