A handover ceremony of the Recognition File for Expo 2027 Belgrade was held in Belgrade today, with which Serbia took a significant step in the preparations for this prestigious international exhibition. The file was ceremoniously handed over to the Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Mr Dimitri Kerkentzes by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Siniša Mali.

“Today is an important day and another big step when it comes to the organization of Expo 2027. The Recognition file is the last and most important document with which we formally end the candidacy for the host of the International Exhibition. It is the document that contains the most details related to the legal, financial and other aspects of this exhibition, but also to the representation of the participating countries. Today, Expo is the largest construction site in this part of Europe and represents a great chance for us to present ourselves to the whole world in the right way," the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Siniša Mali, said.

The Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Dimitri S. Kerkentzes, expressed his satisfaction with Serbia's progress in preparing for Expo 2027 Belgrade. « The submission of the Recognition Dossier marks a crucial milestone in the organisation of the upcoming Specialised Expo. Since Serbia was elected to host the Expo over a year ago, it has demonstrated a serious and professional approach to its organisation. I am confident that this Expo will not only benefit Serbia and its citizens but will also have a significant impact on the region and the world. As the first Specialised Expo in a decade, following Expo 2017 in Astana, the excitement surrounding Belgrade and Serbia is palpable. The global community is eagerly anticipating this unique project » stated the Secretary General.

After the ceremony, Kerkentzes, together with the representatives of the hosts, visited the key construction sites that will play a central role during Expo 2027 Belgrade, where he additionally learned about the progress of the works and preparations for this prestigious event.

As a reminder, Expo 2027 Belgrade is a global event that will be held in Belgrade from 15 May to 15 August and will gather countries from all over the world to present their latest achievements in the fields of technology, culture, and social development. It is expected that Belgrade, as the host, will attract 4 million visitors during the 92 days of the event and set new standards in the organisation of international exhibitions.
