To mark the 100th anniversary of Radio Beograd, 100 lime and maple saplings were symbolically planted at four locations in the capital. The new trees will enrich the parks near the Sixth Belgrade Grammar School, Aleksandar Nikolić Hall, Zvezdara Forest, and Tašmajdan Park. Representatives of Radio Beograd, EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Beograd, and the public utility company “Zelenilo-Beograd” attended the planting event at Tašmajdan. Through this symbolic act, the directors of these organisations marked this important date, expressing their wish for play to always live in the parks.
“There are monuments made of stone and metal that last for centuries, and there are living monuments that grow each year. The 100 trees planted to celebrate the 100 years of Radio Beograd represent a monument for future generations, leaving a mark in time and growing ever more splendid ‘from century to century’. We extend our deepest gratitude to the public utility company Zelenilo-Beograd and EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Beograd for recognising the importance of Serbia’s first electronic media, which will continue to be a temple of culture, information, quality music, and eloquent speech”, said Milan Nedić, Director of RTS Radio Beograd.
With the aim of serving as a true example of sustainability and raising environmental awareness in Belgrade and throughout Serbia, the Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade emerged as a natural partner in this initiative launched by Radio Beograd.
“Parks are the first association with free play and represent green oases nestled amongst bustling city streets. The central theme of the Specialised Expo, ‘Play for Humanity’, shows that play lives in each of us and in every corner of Belgrade and Serbia. Numerous parks around the world have been left as a legacy of World Exhibitions, demonstrating how green oases can improve the quality of life and contribute to the health of citizens while also serving as gathering places for local communities, offering spaces for interaction, relaxation, and play. We will strive to ensure that the legacy of Expo 2027 Belgrade serves as an example of a sustainable global event”, said Dušan Borovčanin, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Beograd.
The public utility company “Zelenilo-Beograd” continuously ensures that Belgrade’s parks remain a living symbol of community and care for nature. Once again, they have contributed to the shared goal of enriching the capital. Each tree planted represents a thread connecting people and nature, creating spaces for respite, play, and inspiration. Belgrade grows together with its greenery, preserving its heritage for all future generations.
“On behalf of the public utility company ‘Zelenilo-Beograd’ and myself, I wish to congratulate Radio Beograd on its 100th anniversary and express my gratitude that one of the activities marking this significant jubilee is the planting of 100 trees at four locations in the city. Environmental care and the expansion of the city’s green fund are among the core activities of ‘Zelenilo’, but the contributions made by socially responsible companies and individuals are also immensely important. Therefore, I invite everyone who wishes to follow the excellent example set by Radio Beograd and Expo 2027 d.o.o. Beograd to donate trees to the City of Belgrade and join us in this tree-planting initiative”, said Dušan Tojagić, Acting General Director of the public utility company “Zelenilo-Beograd”.
